In 11.02.2006 (this Saturday) the diva of Turkish rock Sebnem Ferah was performing in Bostanci Gosteri Merkezi which is an important concert area in Istanbul Turkiye. She was singing her own songs, especailly from her last studio album: "Can Kiriklari". She also performed a cover after saying "I didn't do covers for a long time in Istanbul. Tonight I want to sing 'Gates of Bablyon' from Rainbow. Sometimes I make covers in my concerts, because I want you to learn where we come from. These groups and singers are our inspiration sources, teachers, reasons we begin to music and idols". Hearing Ronnie James Dio's lyrics from Sebnem Ferah's voice and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar solos from Metin Turkcan's guitar (he was a member of Pentagram which is a group known as MezarKabul in Europe) were preferential for Sebo fans. This historical moment was recorded by my mobile phone, however the recorder wasn't me. My friend Tolga recorded this with my mobile phone. Posted here is a short film I shot whilst working on the FilmON project in Uzbekistan. It's a little documentary that was shot on my mobile phone camera about my time over there. The film is a bit disjointed and this was due to me nearly causing an international incident. Basically I was shooting some footage from my car when we went past an [unidentified] embassy whose security detail quickly chased me back to the hotel. I had to delete 30% of the footage which included a lot of good stuff. Working in Uzbekistan was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was terrific working with some truly talented local filmmakers (one of them had already made a gangster feature and broadcast on Russian television) and having excellent support from the British Council Uzbekistan office team. The band has started work on their new album, the follow-up to their highly successful debut titled Contraband. The all-star band features ex-Guns N' Roses members McKagan, Matt Sorum, and Slash paired with ex-Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland. McKagan gave a sneak peak at what the band has been up to.
